I’m Mark Schmitt, owner of Better Days Bookkeeping and a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. I bring more than 30 years of business experience to the work I do for my clients.
Most recently, I served as Director of Retail Chains for a mid-sized alcohol distributor, managing relationships with retailers including Safeway, Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Total Wine, and New Seasons. I personally negotiated pricing, promotions, and product placements, analyzed sales results, and coordinated with sales teams to put those plans into action.
Those decisions meant balancing sales growth with profitability, cash flow, and inventory requirements. A promising sales opportunity still had to make financial sense—and the numbers helped tell that story.
I’ve also owned and operated a vending business for over a decade, so I understand the day-to-day responsibilities of running a business myself. That experience shapes my bookkeeping approach: organized records, clear financial reports, and practical conversations about what the numbers mean for your business.

Yes. QuickBooks Online cleanup can be a one-time project or the starting point for ongoing monthly support. We’ll review how far behind the records are before setting a scope.
Do I need to be near Ridgefield or Vancouver?
No. I’m based in Ridgefield, Washington, and work remotely with businesses nationwide. I also provide Washington excise tax filing, including B&O and sales tax, for Washington businesses.
Can you help a brand-new business?
Yes. Startup support helps you establish your QuickBooks Online setup and bookkeeping routines from the beginning.
How much does bookkeeping cost?
Pricing depends on transaction volume, account complexity, the condition of your records, and the services you need. We’ll discuss your situation and agree on the scope and price before work begins.
Do you prepare income tax returns?
My focus is bookkeeping. I help organize the records and financial reports your tax preparer needs. I also provide Washington excise tax filing, including B&O and sales tax, and can include that support in your bookkeeping plan.
